BRING BACK THE GOOD

BRING BACK THE GOOD

One Wristband. One Community. One Future.

A Small Yellow Band With a Big Message

Northern Ireland has spent far too many years talking about what divides us. Protestant or Catholic. Unionist or Nationalist. This side or that side.

But what about the next generation?

Our children deserve to grow up in a Northern Ireland where friendships matter more than backgrounds, where everyone feels welcome and where the past doesn’t have to define their future.

That’s why I’ve launched Bring Back The Good, a simple community initiative built around a yellow wristband.

Why a Yellow Wristband?

There are no flags, no political symbols and no religious messages.

Just a bright yellow band carrying three simple words:

BRING BACK THE GOOD

It doesn’t matter what church you attend, what school you go to, what football team you support or what part of Derry you come from.

The wristband represents friendship, kindness, respect and a shared hope for a better future.

One size fits all. One community welcomes all.

Bringing People Together, Not Keeping Them Apart

As The Wee Derry Prod, I use a bit of humour to get people talking. I’m proud of where I come from, but I also believe we have much more in common than some people would have us believe.

I’ve been out around Derry meeting young people, chatting with families and handing out these yellow bands.

One of my favourite experiences was visiting the Creggan, where the welcome, the laughter and the conversations with the young people were absolutely fantastic.

There I was, a wee Derry Prod, standing in a predominantly nationalist community, being called a Prod and having brilliant craic with everyone.

No fear. No barriers. Just people getting along.

That’s the Northern Ireland I want our children to inherit.

Are the Wristbands Free?

Absolutely!

I’ve started with 1,000 yellow wristbands, which I’m personally distributing around Derry and the surrounding communities.

There is no charge, no membership and no requirement to donate.

If you would like to make a voluntary donation, contributions are welcome towards the development of Kinder Meadows, our family-led project creating a calm, inclusive space for autistic children, young people with additional needs and their families.

But the wristband itself will always be about bringing people together, not raising money.

How Can You Get Involved?

I’d love to see these wristbands appearing in schools, shops, youth clubs, community centres and neighbourhoods right across Derry and beyond.

If you’re a business, community organisation or youth group and would like to help distribute them, please get in touch.

You can also help simply by wearing your band, sharing the message and showing kindness to somebody from a different background.

Let’s Give the Next Generation Something Better

We cannot change the history of Northern Ireland.

But we can influence what happens next.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful if our children grew up remembering the friendships we helped create rather than the divisions we refused to leave behind?

I’m not a politician. I’m not representing any organisation or community. I’m just a wee Derry man who believes we can do better.

It might only be a yellow wristband.

But sometimes the smallest things can start the biggest conversations.

Let’s Bring Back The Good. Together.
